FAQ about vintage sandals
Yes. A wedge spreads your weight along the whole sole, so it feels more stable than a narrow heel. That is why wedges became the everyday summer shoe of the 1940s. Ella, Sidse, Irene and Norma all have a wedge sole.
Yes. Joy and Sophia have a low heel and a soft 1.4 cm platform sole, so you can walk in them all day.
Women wore wedge sandals, peep toes and sandals with ankle straps. Leather was rationed during the war, so wedges with cork or wooden soles became popular, along with cutout patterns and crossed straps. Our styles are based on those originals.
Yes. Sophia and Ida come in wide fit, two sizes up in width. Look for the "Wide available" label.
Yes. Flora and Ida have leather soles and a secure ankle strap, so they work well for swing dancing.
The story of vintage sandals
In the 1940s, sandals became an everyday summer shoe for women. Leather was rationed during the war, and shoemakers turned to wedge heels in cork and wood, open toes and cutout patterns. In the 1950s, sandals became lighter, with crossed straps, platforms and soft pastel shades.
Our sandals are based on originals from these decades. We have kept the period details, from the peep toes and cutouts to the shape of the wedge.
Every pair is made from full-grain leather or suede in small production runs.
Many styles have an adjustable ankle strap with a metal buckle, so they stay securely on your foot all day.
